The smaller brothers (Carve 101 & Carve 111) in the 105 and 115 liter test class had a totally new character in the 2006 range. Both felt more free and stiff in the test.
The Carve 133 had kept all the old qualities: the soft and well cushioned sailing character, which made these Carve boards into winners and very popular , especially in choppy water conditions.
The board keeps the angle of planing in a stable way. An absolutely relaxed ride you can just focus on the position toward the wind and the perfect angle of the rig. The board runs well cushioned.
Sudden wheelies or other kind of troubles will not happen and are foreign words to this board.
The Carve 133 wood does not feel inactive or slow at all.
It moves quite free and feels absolutely lively when giving pressure by the feet. In the turn it can be carved in the smallest circle compared to all other participants in this test group. When the board starts to plan (on the threshold from sub-planing to planing) the Starboard feels like an automatic wagon. Without any limitation the board starts and convinces everyone with excellent all-round qualities.
The footstrap positions offer a great choice of different combinations. Excellent freerider can place them far outside, too. In the planning position the pressure is well distributed on both legs. In case of rising wind power the all-round windsurfer will keep the control on the Carve 133. The board covers an absolutely wide wind range. Itīs an excellent choice for a windsurfer, who just wants to buy one board.
Surf-Tipp: Excellent board for all-rounder, a very comfortable freerider, for choppy water conditions
STARBOARD Carve 111 Wood
German SURF May 2006
A JIBING HERO WITH HIGH SPEED QUALITIES
Translated by: Chris Pressler
In the group of the 115 Liter boards the CARVE 111 counts to the group of sporty active shapes - the new philosophy also can be felt in the CARVE 111. The board is not the comfortable tanker it once was. It now delivers super sporty jibing qualities. The extraordinary top speed still exists (10 points out of 10), but pimped with a tingling splashy feeling while sailing. "Light and lively" are the key-descriptive adjectives for the new CARVE 111. Especially a sporty sailor will have a lot of fun on this board.
The jibe line can be changed at any time during the turn, so any type of jibe can be executed. The name "carve" is absolutely true for the pretty looking, fresh designed board. "Get your board on the edge, let your body fall inside and drive inside the turn with full speed!" No other board can compete with the CARVE 111 in this test-group.
The board is quite radical in this group. The lively, reactive driving abilities can be found as well in the top speed category again. The CARVE 111 needs more sensibility than muscle power to be kept in direction.
The board can be recommended for intermediates having below 80 kilos. Compared to all other boards in the whole test group the board feels small.
Surf-Tipp: a board for sportive windsurfers and lightweight sailors.
