Bonaire Pro kids Final
Hey hey I am back.

Finally I flew back home after spending three and half months in europe.

Kiri and I flew back home on the 1st august from fuerteventura to Bonaire it was not a easy way back home because we had problems checking in at the checking counter, they told us that our names where not in the system and that we had to buy a new ticket etc etc.. so I talked and talked to lady untill finaly after 2 hours they got our names and we where on the plane to bonaire.

We flew for 1 and half day to get back home when we arrive in Bonaire the first thing we did was went straight to the beach and rig our sails and board and the next day we went early to the beach and sailed till the sun came down.

On the 3rd of august registration day I had also the chance to compete in the 18+ Men division so I registered my name and was also in the Pro kids event competition.

It was fun to see all these 100 and somethin kids competing and all with difrent style and with thier own way of impressing the judges. which I was also part of.

The most impressive heats was the age 15-16 and 13-14.. I saw some sick moves and sometimes that the other judges from Aruba and curacao couldn't describe the names..

But i pretty much enjoy being on Bonaire to be part of this event I like to watch the young kids windsurf because they are the future of this sport and to see this event happen was amazing.. 100+ kids whole beach packed with spectators and event was reallt cool..

The wind was good mostly 5.6 conditions for me and 4.5 for the smallers kids.

The results you can check on the prokids site...

Fuerteventura,
Hi All,

The fuertevntura PWa event is over and as you might know I had some good results.

1st discpline I did was Slalom where I had some great heats.
During the slalom I was on the STYPE 104 with a 32cm techonics that KP lent me and with the 6.3 Tr2 with this board I managed the finish 21st place even placing couple times in the final and beating bjorn,Kevin, ross and some other guys. I was surprise because everyone else was on the best slalom board and I was on a SuperX boards and still I getting good results.

Well I finish 21st due to 4 DSQ becuase of overearlies..

But I am still happy with my result in slalom and hopefully next year I will get better gears so I can be more prepared.

ITALY
Hi all,

Lake garda was awesome,

I was there for the festival and seeing all these people at the festival side everyone of then so interested in the starboard, our tent was the one that all the board was out for the whole day.

I also went competing in the race of champion, I had some good results, 1race, 6th. 2race 7th, 3race 8th. and in the Long distance I place 10th.

During the slalom I was on the ISONIC 125 with the MS2 7.5 sail and on the Long distance i used the 135 with the TR2 8.5.

The only problem I had was that I wasn't allowed the register for the slalom and Long distance because it was by invitation only, so mine results was unofficial.

But I had fun amd it was a great Festival.

I also won the: DETOUR Italy freestyle event. we had to wake up at 5o'clock in the moning and take the boat to middle of the lake and do the heats it was super cold but we finished one round, then after the organizers but a suppersesion kauli and I was had the same points , so we had to split the first place.

In the freestyle I was on the new Flare 99 and the Legend 5.6

Costa Brava
Hi All,

I had a good week of Super x in Costa brava, the wind was a bit to light for my Equipments but I did the best I could to make them work and finished 7th overall. I was happy to place 7th against the other sailor who where on 7.5 and 8.2 and with bigger boards.

The starboard 104 Stype sure is fast and easy to do spocks.

Well while I am writing you this report I am siting in Lanzarote at the H10 hotel waiting to get a room so that I can rest for tomorow.

The Forcast looks good for tomorow so it will be some good action for sure.

take care now and hear from me soon.

Guincho, Portugal PWA Wave World Cup
We are all here, pretty much the whole wave team is here ready for some action. Scotty, Kev, Nick, Tiffany, Boujama, Frank, Timo, Levi, etc.

The forecasts aren't great right now, but this can all change in an instance and if it does I'll post some storys here for you to read.

I hope that you all have wind wherever you are.

European championships
Just a quick hi from the Europeans,
Overpower Club once again organized a great event and made us all feel really welcomed, unfortunately mother nature didn’t provide the usual winds they get in Portimao Portugal, and we ended up only getting 3 races in, the last one being extremely light with wind dropping to 5-6 knots in some areas of the course. The last race was done on the last possible starting time at 4pm and only about 7 races started on the yellow fleet and 16 on the blue, since most couldn’t get to the start in time.
I was pretty happy finishing in 8th over all and winning the Light weight category that had a total of 17 sailors.
Brazil had a big delegation and we where 9 in total all on starboards.
Now it’s back to Brazil for a week and then to Texas for the US open, after that I head to Ulsan in Korea for the slalom Asian Tour finals.
Special thanks to the local sailors from Portimao and Portugal, and the organizers from Overpower Club.
Best regards,
Wilhelm Schurmann

3rd. place, European Formulawindsurfing Championships, Portugal 8-13/5
I arrived 1 week Early in Portugal to prepare as much as possible for the event and we had wind every day. When the event started I was super prepared and flying in all sorts of wind.
I am still using Kashy fins and it seems to have an edge on all guys downwind and also I the super light winds we had.

In the first Races in the yellow fleet Pawel gets a good start follow by my self and Steve Allen and Arnon… I am catching on him but hitting a chop in the jibe and dropped my sail but fought back to 3rd place.
Next race I was easily winning, the wind picked up and I was on 9.8 and no one had a chance to keep up. I am working a lot with the track all the way back and high boom, keeping as little as possible of the board in the water. It’s a super fine balance but when it sits there its flying over the chop, leaving everyone behind.
We had a few races during the event where we tried to make them valid, but because lack of wind It was not possible. The great thing is that we are not behind the F2 anymore in the lights, I knew this already from South American Championships but here it was clear, it’s the best and easiest all round board for everyone.

The last day, I was on tied first with Wojteck. We had an early start in the morning and it was me and Wojteck in 1 and 2 fighting, but the wind dropped…
½ hour before the last possible start the wind came, very light…I had to finish in top 2 to take the title and ahead of Wojteck. I was far ahead on my 10,7 but on the 2nd upwind mark I stop planning with no chance of getting going. Julian comes behind me and stops too and then Portugal 5 passes us both. I finally get going and the I stopped again on the last mark. And FRA192 and POL10n passes me on their 12,5 pumping their guts out…
I finished in 3rd. place overall with wojteck and Ross Williams in front.
I was a little disappointed, so close and maintaining focus throughout the entire race, make no mistakes, but the wind was way under minimum and there was nothing for me to do…But I am super motivated to take the world title and feel I am ready for it now…

So far this season my results are for 2006 are:

1st place in the formula Oceanics/Sydney
1st place I the Formula South Americans, Argentina
3rd place European Championships
1st place formula world ranking list

Next Formula events for me is:

August/ Nordic Formula Championships, Denmark
August/ Formula Grand Prix Leba
September/ Worlds in Korea

Best Regards

Maui,Bonaire,Austria,Dusseldorf,Amsterdam
Hi All,

April was a really buys time of month for me,
On the 10th of April the Whole Bonaire Starboard team traveled to Maui for the 2006 photoshoot.
it Toke us about one day to get to Maui, when we arrived the wind was really good, I stayed in Maui for 10 days and all these days I sailed with 4.5 I could have go smaller but unfortunatly I was so excited to go windsurfing that I didn't want to rig smaller sail. I had a blast sail on these new 2007 boards and the Flare was the board I sailed the most and I will tell you that the Flare boards are really great.
I was doing Photoshoot for Starboard while at the same time doing the Mauisails photoshoot. I have to tell whenever I am in Maui is the only time I have to say that I smile so much, but I like it and it makes feel good when people take picture of.haha. After spending 10 in Maui I flew back home Bonaire with Kiri:

Bonaire: Kiri and I arrived in Bonaire Friday the21st at night, Mine Brother Tonky picked us up together with mine Girlfriend and I went directy home to sleep because Tonky told me that the next day it will be windy. Saturday I woke up the wind was really blowing something like 25-30 knots. I woke toke one Flare board out of the board bag put in the bag of mine car eat some fruits pickup mine girlfriend and went to the beach. When I arrived at the beach Kiri was already there and I ricked mine 4.2 sail and just sailed. I was doing alot of combination and while kiri was doing some sick sliding combination aswell. so for two days I sailed,Saturday&Sunday while on Sunday afternoon I had to packed all of mine so that I can fly on Monday to Austria for the PWa event.

Austria: Tonky and I arrived in Vienna at 9äm while we arrived at the beach at 12:00 while paying €euro100 for a taxi bus because the organiser won't want to pick us up at the aiport. Well arriving 4 days before the event to train and get used to the conditions the wind never pickep up and it was only getting colder each day while the wind still remain the same with rainy conditions thru out the week. before the ended on saturday the wind was building up but on the out side of the course area but reall gusty and shifty, I went out on the Flare 104 and mine 5.6 and just pump as hell and do some moves. I really needed and wanted to windsurf so bad and that's the reason I went out and sail.

Brazil

After the South Americans in Argentina I came home (ibiraquera in the south of Brazil) to try some new slalom boards out. I sailed the sonic 85 and the I-sonic 125, I was impressed with the boards specially the I-sonic 125 which I thought it would be big for me but proved to be perfect in 10-20 knots of wind. I was on a 7.8 and the board felt incredible, I sailed in choppy, flat and mast height waves and I had so much fun that I sailed 4 hours straight. The 125 rides upwind like a mini formula board and the downwind and jibes are so easy that I couldn’t believe I was on a board 75cm wide.
The summer here in the South of Brazil wasn’t the best in terms of conditions, but I couldn’t complain since I was recovering from a broken thumb that I injured in December at the formula worlds in Australia. We had a pretty windless summer with small waves, though for formula you could probably have sailed most days. With winter approaching here, the winds are starting to come back and yesterday we had a killer wave session with medium but powerful waves that were just perfect for getting sick aerials.
With the Formula Europeans being in Portugal this year, a lot of Brazilians will be attending, first because it’s the same language which helps and also direct flights from Fortaleza which has one of the biggest and most competitive formula fleet in Brazil, and last but not least, the Europeans is always the most competitive event of the year. So it’s back to competitions in a few weeks to the Europeans, US open and the Asian slalom finals in Ulsan, Korea.

Bons ventos (good winds),

Wilhelm Schurmann

Samsung Mobile Indoor Windsurf
What a great weekend. The Indoor event in Belgium was really cool. The pool was huge, which made it so much easier than London for the freestylers and slalom racers and it gave even more run up to the jump.

Some of the freestyle tricks that the guys were pulling off were insane - Shakas, Switch stance chachoos, normal chachoos, grubby 540s, etc.

Robert Teriitehau was there and displayed his usual crazyness by jumping out off the pool on a number of occassions and dominated in the slalom racing too, Although Kauli eventually took top honours there.

The Jump ramp was cool. Marcilio Browne was doing some great push loops as was Kauli, and Yannick Anton almost landed a double forward. I had a good event landing some good moves on the Sunday to make it to 4th place for the final day and 5th place overall for the event. I used a standard Kombat 96 and my Special short masted Tushingham Lighting 5.4.

Rumours are circulating of another Indoor event later on in the year. I hope so, I can't wait!

John
